Area Sales Manager - South

About the Job

As Regional Manager – South, you will be responsible for all retail sales and operations across out retail outlets in West, across Mumbai & Pune. We currently have 25 retail outlets across the country, and growing rapidly. The role is a challenging one as Chumbak has expanded our offerings to include apparel, home and accessories and evolved into a complete lifestyle brand. .  We aim to open new LFS counters going forward and this role will hold responsibility across all channels at the regional level.

Role and Responsibilities
This role will be completely responsible for sales and operations for the region for both EBO as well as Large Format Stores / Key Accounts. 


  • Monitor the performance of all stores & LFS counters under the manager
  • Develop sales strategies to drive sales growth in the assigned area. 
  • Conduct market research to understand competitors and market trends.
  • Provide innovative ideas and suggestions to improve the market presence.
  • Build sales culture and sale centric atmosphere among the team members. 
  • Conduct business plan review meetings with sales team. 
  • Will play a key role in sales forecasting; annual budgeting; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions


Retail Operations 

  • Implement operational best practices and processes as mandated by the company
  • Ensure that high standards of grooming amongst all members of the team
  • Will hold responsibility of collections, inventory management and stock availability at LFS counters

Manpower management

  • Control employee attrition
  • Build and maintain employee morale
  • Allocate and rotate responsibility amongst the customer relation associates
  • People development
  • Provide timely feedback to the sales personnel regarding their performance.
  • Develop performance improvement plan for sales team to meet performance goals
  • Communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures among staff.
  • Identify Training and development inputs required by the store & LFS counter staff to equip them with the skills to understand and fulfil consumer needs.
  • Appreciate the contributions and accomplishments of sales employees through proper rewarding mechanism. 

MIS and Sales / KPI analysis

  • Review sales performance of store & LFS counters periodically in terms of the sales as well as relevant retail KPIs
  • Bring about changes in operations and sales processes based on the above analysis.
  • Ensure timely & accurate information/ communication from the store / LFS to the head office, pertaining to sales and competition in the area for periodic reviews.

General/ Administration.

  • Ensure that the statutory records are maintained properly and are up to date
  • Ensure that all the relevant rules of the Shops and Establishments Act, Labor Act are strictly adhered to at the stores

Desired Experience and Skills
Education : Graduate / MBA in Retail
Years of Experience : 6 - 10 years

Should have :

  • Expert command of retail math concepts and applications
  • Excellent sales & Operations management skills, being results-driven with proven expertise in meeting Sales goals across EBO and LFS / Key Account formats.
  • Good communication & presentations skills, ability to motivate sales staff to achieve targets, fostering a high level of team growth and contribution
  • Good business knowledge of retail and merchandising concepts
  • Strong in building Relationships and negotiation
  • Proven skills in Sales Planning and managing Profitability of the territory assigned to you.
  • Excellent eye for detail, able to deep dive and good problem solving skills.
  • Computer literate, proficient in excel
  • Job involves extensive travel across South India
