Manager - Sourcing & Merchandising

You will be responsible for developing and executing a profitable, customer-focused product and merchandising strategy for the Apparel category. You should have an insatiable desire to contribute to a young, energetic and fast growing brand that provides the best product experience to customers.
 

Role & Responsibilities

Product Development

  • Lead product development efforts in apparel based on fashion forecast and market trends
  • Independently collaborating with various stake holders in ensuring the Apparel collection is launched as per the seasonal GTM calendar.
  • Studying tech packs provided by design team and ensuring the information given is correct and practical to execute
  • Responsible for timely submission of Fit Sample, print / embellishment strike-off, PP and shipment samples.
  • Create and maintain catalogues for fabric swatch, trims and patterns with appropriate details for future reference
  • Work very closely with the design team by presenting new upcoming or prevailing ideas in industry on regular basis and should also give suggestion or ideas about new technologies or new products. Introduce innovative fabric, trims, techniques and packaging on ongoing basis.
  • Understand the product development requirement for Import program and account for the same in the seasonal development calendar.
  • Follow up and work closely with the Design team by providing valuable inputs from Import vendors on Fabric stocks, designs and possibilities that are in sync with Fashion trends and brand requirements.

Vendor management

  • Identifying the right vendor who are capable of delivering products meeting our quality, cost and MOQ requirements
  • Identify vendors for Import of seasonal and fashion products and fabrics needed, who are capable of delivering our quality, cost and MOQ requirements.
  • Identify alternate sources of sourcing for Short quantity garment programme and CTS (close-to-season) top-up requirements.
  • Specific to development of woven fabrics and value-added woven styles, strive to develop a vendor base that can work with small quantities and short lead times.
  • Develop quality resource for stock fabrics in India and Imported fabrics.
  • Maintaining healthy relationship with vendors. Helping them understand our vision, what we stand for and how we can grow mutually
  • Engaging potential vendors to do trend presentation which includes upcoming trends, silhouettes, trims and techniques ahead of any particular season’s GTM
  • Responsible for on time PO issuance and competitive credit terms.
  • On time delivery of Fit samples, strike-offs, PP samples and Photo shoot samples
  • On time in full ( OTIF) delivery of apparels at the warehouse as per agreed time lines
  • Achieving a COGS to MRP ratio of an average 25% for the season. Achieve target COGS without compromising on product quality and aesthetics. 
  • Training and mentoring the QC team to maintain high quality standards consistently.



Desired Experience and Skills
Education : NIFT / B.Tech with specialization in Garment Technology or related field
Years of Experience : 8 - 10 years
 
Should have :

  • Experience in working with women’s wear brands, especially in western wear.
  • Specialise in Wovens – fashion garments like Tops, dresses, jackets and Denims + Non denim bottoms
  • Experienced in sourcing from outside of India for categories like Winterwear, Fashion trend styles and niche apparel categories.
  • Up-to-date with the import structure and has a wide network of sourcing base for China and imported apparel sourcing
  • Experienced in working on fabric sourcing and innovation in Wovens – polyester, rayon, cottons, value added jacquards and more.
  • Experienced in handling sourcing of Denims and Non denim bottons
  • Should have demonstrated experience in developing products with MOQs lower than 400 per style within a GTM of 5 months and achieving a COGS to MRP ratio of an average 25% without compromising on product quality and aesthetics.
  • Experience in Co-ordination with Design and its development with in-depth understanding of fabrics, trims and techniques along with latest developments, industry trends, and fashion forecasts
  • Vendor development and management skills. Should have in-depth apparel industry knowledge, understand the dynamics of the industry, have strong connections, and develop and maintain a vendor base for current and future needs of the company
  • Experience in identifying supply issues and taking necessary corrective actions
  • Process oriented and strong follow-up skills to ensure that all the activities are carried out as per the planning and even if there is any deviation, he/she should make the alternatives measures.
  • Good people skills in managing both internal teams and internal / external stakeholders.
  • Good experience in costing and understanding production processes. Should know the current prices and rates of various products and processes to do the accurate costing.
